Barney Hilton Murray

Executive Director

Barney Hilton Murray, born and raised in White Plains, New York, came to Tucson 14 years ago by way of San Jose, California, where he lived for twenty-five years. He has been married to Jacki for 42 years, but they have known each other since early childhood. Barney is the father of three children and the grandfather of 12, including one great-granddaughter. Upon arriving in Tucson, Barney supported many non-profits with photography and graphic design for events and marketing collateral.

Murray taught digital arts, music and entrepreneurship at Eastpointe High School for 10 years attributes time for the education and greater insight into the lives of teenage youth. With his motto of “Mentor4Life’” Murray has continued mentor many of his former students as well as additional community youth.

He is serving his seventh term as the president of Arizona Christian Men’s Fellowship Incorporated with the vision and mission to establish chapters throughout the state of Arizona. The motto for AZCMF is “Equipping Men for Servant Leadership at Home, Church and Community.” Not just another ministry for men, but a ministry TO men.

In the spring of 2019, Murray founded and launched “the Living Room.” The Living Room started out as a place for men to get together and talk about real natural and spiritual issues in a safe nonjudgmental environment. The facility was intentionally outfitted and furnished to provide an at home setting and feel. The Living Room has increased its programming to include youth, women and seniors.

Since 2019, Murray has been ordained as a pastor by the Full Gospel Baptist Church, and has received certification in premarital counselling and mental-health coaching.

Murray continues to work at the Living Room to fulfill its mission of helping people “Learning to Live the Most out of Life.”
